If you are wondering how to grow on Instagram in 2023, here is what you need to know to stand out in a crowded market.
We all know the basics: define your niche, post consistently, and so on. But what specific steps can you take to grow on Instagram and make an impact?
Here are the steps you can take in order to grow on Instagram in 2023
Know what you want to be known for on Instagram
If you want to grow on Instagram you need to know why you want to grow on Instagram. When you grow what do you want to be known for? Communicate your niche. when I say communicate it, I mean make your page clear on what you do.
For Ex: If you aspire to become a full-time fitness trainer, it would be beneficial to begin sharing your workouts and provide tips on various exercises with proper form that your followers could perform. Additionally, you could debunk common nutrition myths that people often believe in.
By regularly sharing the type of content you wish to be recognized for, you will effectively communicate your expertise and build your reputation as a fitness trainer.
There are three places you want to focus on when communicating what you want to be known for.
1. Your Nameplate: For Ex: If your goal is to become a Fitness Coach. You can have your name plate filled with “Fitness Coach” along with your Name/Business Name.
Something you want to understand about this spot is that it is searchable on Instagram. So, if you go to Instagram search, and you look up “Fitness Coach”, anybody who has those words in their nameplate will first appear on your search.
So, start thinking about what words or key phrases can you put in your nameplate to attract your ideal followers and drive traffic to your profile.
2. Your bio: When crafting your bio, it's important to communicate to your audience why they should follow you. Your bio should focus on what value you can offer them rather than just listing your accomplishments or possessions.
Consider whom you help, what problems you solve for them, and how you can support them in achieving their goals. In addition, be sure to include a clear and compelling call to action that encourages your audience to engage with you further.
Remember, your bio is a powerful tool for connecting with your audience and showcasing your unique expertise and value proposition.
For Example: My bio says:
IG, FB & Linkedin Organic Growth Expert.
I help women entrepreneurs to sell through with my effective content strategy”.
3. Your Feed: Start posting consistently. Focus on your content. If one million people came to your page right now; you would want them all to follow you right? Well, what's going to persuade them to press that ‘follow button? you got your nameplate, you have your bio all figured out the next thing is your content.
If someone were to peruse your feed and discover that your content ranges from pictures of you traveling and showcasing costumes and makeup, while your bio describes you as a “Fitness Coach”, it would likely result in a low conversion rate of followers.
To optimize your social media presence, ensure that the content you post is consistently aligned with your niche or intended area of expertise.
Occasional behind-the-scenes glimpses into your personal life can be a great way to maintain audience engagement and connection to your emotions.". But that shouldn’t be the main pillar content.
without following steps, one through three, steps four through five won't matter? You won't get followers by doing all the other little hacks.
4. Create growth content. There are so many pieces of content that you can make on Instagram.
You have single posts, carousels, stories, reels, Instagram videos live and so on. You know there's a lot of different types of content. So, what should you actually be focusing on if you want to grow?
If you want to grow you want to focus on the content that is more likely to get you in front of new eyes. So, that would mean creating a posting schedule around carousels, reels, collaboration features, live rooms, and shareable in-feed posts all of which are designed to help you attract new followers and increase engagement.
By utilizing these different formats strategically, you can maximize your exposure on the platform and grow your presence over time.
The collaborations tool: It is a feature where you can create a post with another creator and when you publish it, it gets published to both of your audiences; multiplying your reach by two.
With live rooms: This is where you can go live with up to three people at once notifying all three of your followers and , expanding your reach by three.
Shareable posts: When your post is shared more, that means you reach more eyes and creating shareable posts will look different for every audience type.
So it's important to test out what that means for you.
5. Adaptation:
Instagram is always changing so growth strategies are always changing. which means that anytime a new feature rolls around you get to use that as an opportunity to be an early adapter and get favored by the algorithm.
This is something that I would love to see everybody start incorporating into their Instagram strategy for 2023.
I broke it down for you making sure that you know exactly what you want to be known for in your posting that thing you communicate clearly through your feed with your nameplate, your bio, the content that you are producing, and focus on producing growth content which is content like reals, Instagram lives, doing collaborations with other creators; those are pieces of content that will expand your reach and of course adaptation.
If you're doing all these things and you do it for a month, or two months and nothing is working try something new. You always want to be mixing up and changing your strategy.
The easiest way to reach success is by not giving up. It's not going to be easy of course it's going to be hard but you will eventually hit that success you want to get if you don't stop doing what you're doing if you don't give up.
Success comes when you don't stop when you keep pursuing what you want to do.
I want to encourage you to just keep going and you eventually will get there if you've made it this far.
